About This Role

The Ambassador role at North Mississippi Health Services manages patient and visitor transportation, ensuring safe and timely movement. This patient-facing position requires strong communication and organizational skills to interact with diverse individuals, track transport requests, and maintain equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and transport patients/visitors safely and timely to their designated site
  • Reduce waste and streamline processes for patient movement within the organization
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures for patient transport and use proper body mechanics
  • Possess working knowledge of TeleTracking, paging system, and phone system for transport assignments
  • Assess the transportation needs of patients
  • Perform duties to meet personal needs and comfort of patients
  • Assist with the transport of patients requiring oxygen and IV therapy
  • Ensure safe and proper handling of oxygen tanks and IV equipment during transport
  • Monitor patients' conditions during transport and report changes to nursing staff
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to patients during transport
  • Document all requests for transport service for accurate tracking
  • Maintain wheelchairs, stretchers, etc., in a clean and sanitary condition and proper working order

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 1-2 years documented proficiency in public relations
  • 3-4 years in a public relations capacity with successful demonstrated skills in technical, oral, and written communications
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care to infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Ability to recognize and report changes or abnormalities in patient condition
  • Ability to prioritize, assist, and perform numerous transport functions
  • Ability to recognize patients in need of assistance and activate appropriate resources
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of people
  • Professional and personable image to patients, family members, staff, and customers
  • Ability to interact and communicate information and ideas to all levels of personnel
  • Service oriented

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 1-2 years documented proficiency in public relations; 3-4 years in a public relations capacity with demonstrated technical, oral, and written communication skills.
