About This Role

The Administrative Specialist I/II position supports the Resource Management Agency by assisting with planning, analysis, and evaluation of department programs related to funding and budgetary considerations. This role involves monitoring financial activities and researching regulations impacting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and directing the integration, analysis, and evaluations of department programs related to funding and budgetary considerations
  • Assist in the integration of existing programs and service delivery systems throughout all Agency programs (Level I)
  • Prepare, present, and monitor monthly financial activities of the department and individual units’ budgets
  • Research and report on new developments in Federal and/or State regulations, reform, and legislation that may impact department funding, operational needs, or service delivery systems
  • Provide a higher level of administrative strategic planning and support in the coordination and implementation of highly complex Agency projects (Level II)
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement new programs requested by Executive Management (Level II)

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, organizational development, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, computer science, construction or project management, or a closely related field OR directly related program-specific experience (2 years specific experience = 1 year education)
  • Level I: 1 year professional administrative work involving planning, coordinating, and evaluating projects and services OR 1 year progressively responsible staff experience in budget preparation and management of complex and specialized financial accounting, technical, or statistical work OR 1 year experience in construction management, architecture, engineering, or planning
  • Level II: 2 years experience as an Administrative Specialist I-RMA or equivalent
  • Understanding of financial analysis principles
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Knowledge of public administration principles
  • Skill in operating contemporary office equipment inclusive of a computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment
  • Ability to develop and correctly apply excellent and effective written and oral communication
  • Ability to research, compile, and analyze information and prepare appropriate alternatives and recommendations
  • Ability to compile results of research to extrapolate costs and prepare corresponding budget documents
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex, technical regulations, funding documents, financial reports, County and Agency policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, organizational development, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, computer science, construction or project management, or a closely related field
  • For Level I, one (1) year of professional administrative work involving planning, coordinating, and evaluating projects and services; or one (1) year of progressively responsible staff experience in budget preparation and management of complex and specialized financial accounting, technical, or statistical work; or one (1) year experience in construction management, architecture, engineering, or planning. For Level II, two (2) years of experience working as an Administrative Specialist I-RMA or equivalent.
