Extra Help Maintenance Worker

About This Role

Perform general maintenance and repair work on county buildings and facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, while adhering to safety policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment as well as plumbing and electrical systems.
• Check, service and repair mechanical, electrical, refrigeration and heating equipment.
• Install electrical wiring and fixtures.
• Assist in the performance of preventative maintenance duties under the direction of Maintenance Worker Lead.
• Maintain records to reflect time and material utilizing computer generated work order system.

Requirements

• Basic maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, and masonry including proper tools.
• Ability to read, understand and use maintenance instruction manuals and blueprints.
• Ability to use manual and power hand tools, drill presses, pipe threading machines, power saws and grinders.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment or in the construction building trades.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of department's safety policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
