Adjunct Faculty, English

About This Role

Adjunct Faculty members assist students in their learning process, committed to facilitating learning throughout communities, and engaged in scholarly endeavors and service activities.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes as assigned by designated supervisor
• Prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course
• Develop and submit course outlines and syllabi
• Assist with development of measurable course objectives and plans
• Develop a professional relationship with students and staff that encourages communication
• Maintain accurate course records of students and complete course forms as required
• Be available for student consultation
• Assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate
• Assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance when agreed upon
• Represent the college in a professional manner by promoting a positive public image
• Engage in professional development as required for credentialing

Requirements

• Credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed
• Minimum of a master's degree in a specific degree for the position or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a specifically related field
• Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor
• Knowledge with pedagogy
• Strong background in computers and technology
• Excellent organizational skills
• General office skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn
• Ability to research and effectively analyze data
• Ability to work independently towards established goals and deadlines

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a specific degree for the position or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a specifically related field
• Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
