The Account Clerk performs routine bookkeeping and clerical tasks involving journals, ledgers, and other financial records, requiring the application of bookkeeping knowledge for report preparation.
Responsibilities
- Calculate overall invoice totals, account adjustments, and purchases/account deductions to generate reports, spreadsheets, and adjustment forms.
- Reconcile physical inventory counts against electronic inventory data, verifying electronic data entries and receiving reports for accuracy.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to promote healthy relationships and provide exceptional customer service.
- Field calls from external and internal customers to explain account status information, internal policies and procedures, and other required information.
- Manage complaints from internal and external customers effectively by providing clear and accurate information.
- Maintain account entries in electronic databases to ensure accurate record keeping.
- Maintain paper files including invoices, adjustment forms, and court orders to meet record keeping requirements.
- Travel to internal and external sites on foot to deliver mail, make bank deposits, and pick up departmental packages.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of routine bookkeeping or clerical auditing work (experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis)
- Proficiency in basic bookkeeping tasks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of routine bookkeeping or clerical auditing work, or completion of nine quarter hours of study in accounting or bookkeeping.
- One year of routine bookkeeping or routine clerical auditing work.
Nice to Have
- Nine quarter hours of study in accounting or bookkeeping from an accredited college, technical institute or vocational school (may substitute for required experience)
