This role involves managing project execution, client relations, and business growth for a large operating unit within the water sector. The manager will provide leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring quality, client satisfaction, and project profitability goals are met.
Responsibilities
- Assist managers in identifying staffing needs based on future workload and manpower projections
- Review and approve/disapprove recommendations for staff recruitment, hiring, transfers, terminations, and salary adjustments
- Conduct semi-annual performance reviews and annual career planning sessions with direct reports
- Provide staff with ongoing performance feedback and counsel to promote improved performance and career development
- Assist managers in developing project work plans and participate in reviews of schedules, budgets, and milestones
- Monitor and enforce compliance with established quality control standards and review project QC plans
- Participate in the development of annual and strategic plans for the area of responsibility
- Actively pursue new project opportunities by maintaining contacts with current and prospective clients
- Conduct contract negotiations with clients and subconsultants
- Monitor project performance to ensure project profitability and manage accounts receivable and client billings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in field of practice
- Professional registration in field of practice (P.E., P.G., PLS, R.A., or RLA)
- 15 years of experience since B.S. with at least 3 years in project or operational management
- Excellent technical and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage individuals and teams
- Ability to provide leadership and manage project production
- Skilled at promoting the firm and negotiating advantageous contracts
- Business vision and excellent communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in field of practice. Post graduate degree preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.
- 15 years of experience since B.S., with at least three of these years in positions with project management or operational management responsibilities.
