Washington National Tax - Financial Instruments Manager

About This Role

Join Deloitte's Washington National Tax Financial Instruments Group as a Manager to analyze complex federal income tax issues for a variety of clients and advise on tax matters involving debt, derivatives, and digital assets.

Responsibilities

• Analyze federal income tax issues faced by multinational corporations, major financial institutions, investment funds, and asset managers
• Assist in advising clients on complex tax issues involving debt, derivatives, and digital assets
• Consider debt or equity classification for instruments issued by multinational corporations and tax account for interest accruals
• Evaluate derivative classifications for hedge funds and assess impact of straddle rules
• Assist with determining tax consequences of digital asset loans

Requirements

• Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model (2-3 days in office)
• 5+ years' experience in taxation at a law firm, public accounting firm or similar practice environment
• One of the following active accreditations: CPA, Licensed attorney, Enrolled agent, Certified Financial Accountant (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 5+ years' experience in taxation at a law firm, public accounting firm or similar practice environment

Nice to Have

• An advanced degree such as MS in Taxation, JD and/or LLM
• Strong analytical abilities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
