VDC Engineer

About This Role

The VDC Engineer supports the Virtual Design and Construction team by assisting with design and trade partner coordination. This role involves translating 2D drawings into 3D/4D models, supporting pre-construction processes, and performing VDC work under close supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support VDC deliverables under close supervision
• Translate 2D drawings and specifications into complete 3D/4D Models
• Stay informed on BIM related software and their interoperability with VDC software
• Support the pre-construction process by producing and adjusting models for constructability reviews, quantity take-offs, project scheduling, and cost estimates
• Support VDC coordination kick-off and subsequent meetings
• Support project setup for 3D trade coordination, site logistical planning, and 4D sequencing
• Configure project sites to host BIM data or other equitable platforms
• Perform VDC work and support personnel in VDC processes, including technical support issues
• Understand how to develop and maintain project coordination schedules
• Perform laser scan services for project teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in the AEC industry
• 0-3 years’ experience in a BIM or VDC-related role
• 0-3 years’ experience in design, engineering, or construction
• Proficient in Autodesk packages (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) and other AEC design technology
• Experience creating custom Revit families
• Familiarity with construction concepts, practices, and procedures
• Strong technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in the AEC industry
• 0-3 years’ experience working a BIM or VDC-related role and 0-3 years’ experience in the field of design, engineering, or construction
