Laborer

About This Role

This Laborer position assists craft workers on commercial or industrial construction sites by performing various physical tasks and operating a variety of hand and power tools to prepare and clean work areas.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing and returning them to the appropriate locations; install or remove signage, railings, or other various hardware
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes
• Operate hand or power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment or other as required
• If certified, operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, bobcat
• Assist in erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

Requirements

• 6 months experience working as a commercial or industrial construction laborer
• Experience operating required hand and power tools
• Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
