Underwriting Technician II

About This Role

This role supports the underwriting department by reviewing applications and endorsement requests, performing data entry, and providing quotes and policy issuance. Responsibilities also include processing renewals, cancellations, quality control, training, and delivering customer service to agents and customers.

Responsibilities

• Process mail, email, and fax items received in underwriting to maintain departmental productivity, quality, and timeliness standards
• Review new applications/proposals for completeness and rate new business
• Order required reports within timeliness standards and determine benefits
• Issue new policies and/or report surplus lines taxes
• Request additional information when needed for applications
• Process renewal policies by obtaining current information, applying to policy, and performing rate function
• Service existing accounts by processing endorsements/amendments, identifying problems, and responding to inquiries
• Maintain logs related to policy processing and service
• Respond accurately, timely, and courteously to telephone or written customer inquiries, documenting them accurately
• Participate in special projects or system testing and assist in training new Underwriting Technicians

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of customer service within the insurance industry OR 1 year of underwriting services experience

Qualifications
