Unarmed Airport Security Officer

About This Role

As an Airport Security Officer in Kailua-Kona, HI, you will maintain the safety and security of all passengers, staff, and airport facilities. This role involves conducting routine patrols, engaging with the public, and delivering exceptional customer service through clear communication, making a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government aviation location.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of terminals, checkpoints areas, baggage areas, curbside zones, parking areas, and perimeter routes, noting and reporting unusual activity.
• Monitor access points and restricted areas, verify credentials and/or authorized entry as directed by post orders, and help to deter unauthorized access and loitering.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and calls for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with supervisors, airport operations, and/or local public agencies as needed.
• Complete detailed security-related reports and logs, document incidents and observed conditions, and communicate status updates using radios, phones, and/or computer systems.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and physical exam
• Ability to obtain AOA badge (Federal Background Check in ordinance with DOT requirements)

Qualifications

• high school diploma or equivalent
