Traveling Superintendent - Commercial/Retail Construction

About This Role

Supervise commercial and industrial construction projects nationwide, overseeing daily field operations and coordinating teams to ensure safety, quality, and timely project delivery. This role requires strong leadership to manage subcontractors and enforce construction documentation on various project types.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily on-site supervision and execution of construction activities for retail, commercial and industrial projects
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and onsite teams to meet schedule, quality, and safety goals
• Coach and direct Assistant Superintendents and field personnel
• Maintain short-interval schedules, lookaheads, and proactive planning to support project milestones
• Enforce and promote job site safety protocols and OSHA compliance
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and documentation for constructability and sequencing issues
• Manage site logistics including deliveries, inspections, and coordination with trade partners
• Ensure accurate daily reports, meeting minutes, and field documentation
• Support project closeout, including punch list and turnover activities
• Communicate field progress, risks, and needs to Project Managers and leadership

Requirements

• 5+ years of Superintendent experience on retail, commercial or industrial projects
• Strong field leadership with ability to manage multiple subcontractors and disciplines
• Proven ability to read, interpret, and enforce construction documents
• Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems
• Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability and willingness to travel for project assignments

• 5+ years of Superintendent experience on retail, commercial or industrial projects
