Transporter

About This Role

The Transporter will be responsible for transporting patients to and from hospital departments, assisting with direct patient care, and performing guest assistance duties. This role ensures patients are moved safely and efficiently while supporting clinical staff and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from hospital departments for radiology testing
• Assist in the transport of patients eligible for discharge
• Use the hospital telephone system for transport tracking and accepting orders
• Assist nurses and technologists in moving patients to and from bed, stretcher, and/or wheelchair
• Provide directional information to guests and visitors and patient location to family members
• Help patients change their clothes, as requested
• Retrieve, clean, and store all unused patient transport equipment
• Supply the department with clean linen and take soiled linen to the laundry
• Replace oxygen tanks, as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to multi-task and take initiative
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Less than 1 year of experience; 6 months previous demonstrated experience as transporter/orderly/CNA and patient care experience preferred

Nice to Have

• 6 months previous demonstrated experience as transporter/orderly/CNA and patient care experience
• CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
