Serve as a Patient Services Representative (Front Desk) within an orthopaedics practice, managing patient scheduling, insurance verification, and clerical activities with a focus on patient needs and preferences.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and monitor physician schedules to ensure full booking while adhering to wait time policies
- Check in and reschedule patients as necessary
- Verify patient insurance by scanning proper documentation
- Explain forms to patients
- Answer incoming calls
- Monitor and keep track of patient waiting times
- Call patients who require hand-carrying X-rays
- Collect co-pays
- Direct patients to proper locations such as imaging centers, hand centers, physical therapy, and other offices
- Route incoming and outgoing faxed documents
- Aid patients with special needs, including those requiring wheelchairs
- Perform basic clerical activities
- Comply with all HIPAA laws and regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalence
- Ability to type 40 words per minute
- Skill in operating a computer and scanner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
- Superior telephone etiquette
- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to multitask in a stressful setting
- Bilingual in Spanish
