Systems Engineer

About This Role

This Systems Engineer position is responsible for developing short- and long-range plans for major system distribution line and substation design, improvements, and inspections. The role monitors and adjusts distribution load, ensures proper maintenance of the distribution system, and handles the PCB eradication program for Pioneer Electric Cooperative.

Responsibilities

• Inspect substations, switched capacitors, and voltage regulators; complete and maintain inspection forms
• Determine substation equipment maintenance needs; supervise and/or assist with maintenance
• Plan and coordinate changes in distribution system protective equipment
• Monitor electrical loads at each substation to maintain balanced loading conditions
• Monitor substation power factor at peak load to assure it is 98% or greater
• Develop safe and adequate designs, select materials and equipment, construct and inspect overhead and underground distribution line facilities
• Perform long and short-range planning of the electric power distribution system
• Coordinate the testing of distribution transformers for PCB levels; remove and dispose of contaminated transformers
• Maintain a record of temporary load transfers between substations and communications changes
• Attend and participate in safety meetings; participate in training programs for first aid, CPR, and pole top rescue

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• Reside within 20 minutes of the Greenville office

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
