Surgical Technologist II Labor and Delivery

About This Role

This role involves assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in surgical procedures, ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room, particularly in Labor and Delivery.

Responsibilities

• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for surgery
• Transport patients to the operating room, assist with positioning, and ensure their safety and comfort
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures
• Follow proper sterilization techniques for surgical instruments and supplies
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other surgical team members
• Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions
• Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques
• Familiarity with surgical equipment and technology used in the operating room
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Understanding of infection control protocols and patient safety measures

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with preferred experience in Labor and Delivery

Nice to Have

• Experience in Labor and Delivery
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
