About This Role

Serve as a Supply Chain Procurement Specialist, sourcing and procuring items of medium to high complexity within mechanical commodities. This role involves managing the procurement process from RFQ to purchase order administration, focusing on cost reduction and efficiency in a defense and space manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure items within mechanical commodities, of medium to high complexity
  • Initiate Requests for Quotations and Proposals, analyzing proposed pricing from potential suppliers
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and reliability in conjunction with the quality organization
  • Work with internal customers to ensure specifications are appropriate for required products or services
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and manage risk through targeted negotiations
  • Issue purchase orders and manage their performance to ensure compliance with all regulations
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is provided to logistics/transportation & warehouse organization for proper receipt
  • Review and approve supplier payments as needed
  • Utilize process tools like Lean Six Sigma with suppliers to drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Prepare bid packages, analyze and evaluate proposals, and negotiate PO provisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and innovation behaviors in past projects, roles, or experience
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in a MRP system, SAP and CostPoint

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Nice to Have

  • Experience with large dollar, complex purchases including subcontracts and long-term agreements
  • Experience procuring in an engineering development environment
  • Experience in machining, forgings, extrusions, composites or raw material commodities
  • Experience leading negotiations with suppliers
  • Basic comprehension of technical drawings and documents
  • Knowledge of government contracting requirements and regulations
