Supervise and oversee the performance of a language services contract for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Serve as an on-site supervisor, manage linguist assignments, and perform language duties including monitoring, translating, and transcribing.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an on-site supervisor and point of contact for law enforcement personnel at TIII intercept locations
- Supervise linguists on-site during daily work assignments and end products
- Support the Program Manager in assigning linguists to monitor real-time oral communications intercepts
- Support the Program Manager in assigning linguists to transcribe, translate, and validate completed work
- Train and orient new hires on procedures and policies for language work and wire room operations
- Ensure smooth transition between linguist shifts for continuous monitoring or transcription services
- Maintain records of work production, evidence control, and administrative records
- Maintain monthly schedules and time and attendance records for supervising linguists
- Follow all Quality Control Plan procedures
- Perform all functions and duties described for linguists, including monitoring, translating, transcribing, interpreting, quality control, and validation
- Provide reliable and accurate transcriptions, translations, or interceptions and/or summaries into English
- Attend ATF-sponsored training for specific equipment and software utilization
Requirements
- Prior experience managing and performing linguist duties (monitoring, translating, transcribing, interpreting, quality control, validating services)
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand a language other than English (demonstrated through certification or valid proficiency testing)
Qualifications
- Prior experience managing and performing linguist duties such as monitoring, translating, transcribing, interpreting, performing quality control and/or validating services. 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, particularly for language services contracts is preferred.
