Supervise and oversee linguists performing language services for a government contract supporting the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). This role involves on-site supervision, assignment of duties, training, and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an on-site supervisor and point of contact for law enforcement personnel at TIII intercept locations
- Supervise linguists on-site during daily work assignments and end products
- Assist the Program Manager in assigning linguists to monitor real-time oral communications intercepts
- Assist the Program Manager in assigning linguists to transcribe, translate, and validate completed work
- Train and orient new hires on procedures and policies for work and wire room operations
- Ensure smooth transition between linguist shifts for continuous monitoring or transcription services
- Maintain records of work production, evidence control, and other administrative records
- Maintain the monthly schedule and time and attendance records for supervising linguists
- Follow all Quality Control Plan procedures
- Perform all functions and duties described for linguists, including monitoring, translating, transcribing, interpreting, quality control, and validating services
- Provide reliable and accurate transcriptions, translations, or interceptions and/or summaries of source materials into English
- Attend ATF-sponsored training pertaining to the operation and upgrade of specific equipment and software
- Perform administrative duties related to tasks, such as placing log sheets, duplicating tapes, and copying paperwork
- Attend minimization briefings conducted by the U.S. Attorney's Office and ATF and comply with Court regulations
Requirements
- Prior experience managing linguist duties (monitoring, translating, transcribing, interpreting, QC, validating)
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand a language other than English (demonstrated through valid certification or proficiency testing)
Qualifications
- Prior experience managing and performing linguist duties
Nice to Have
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, particularly for language services contracts
