Summer Camp Counselor I

About This Role

Ensure a positive and enriching summer camp experience for participants by overseeing activities, managing behavior, assisting with planning, and providing basic first aid. Serve as a positive role model while fostering clear communication with supervisors, co-workers, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all rules are followed by camp participants
• Oversee, direct, and organize camp participants
• Prepare facilities and equipment for camp activities
• Learn and implement positive behavior-management techniques
• Maintain clear and positive communication with supervisor, co-workers, parents, and camp participants
• Attend weekly field trips
• Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating camp activities
• Administer First Aid and report injuries/accidents/illnesses to Summer Camp Director
• Serve as a role model to camp participants and other staff
• Maintain and store camp equipment and supplies
• Perform general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, processing incoming/outgoing mail, distributing documentation, or posting information at parks
• Perform light maintenance/housekeeping tasks associated with maintaining event sites or work areas, which may include sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning tables/counters, cleaning kitchen sinks/refrigerators, picking up trash, setting up tables/chairs

Requirements

• Must be 16 years or older
• Possess organizational skills
• Be enthusiastic, adaptable, dependable, and responsible
• Able to work outdoors and participate in active games and programming

Qualifications

• Previous experience working or volunteering with youth is preferred.
