Recreation Program Assistant

About This Role

This role will assist in teaching and facilitating program activities, maintain communication with the Program Coordinator, and help with program planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring the safety and quality of programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in teaching and facilitating program activities
• Maintain direct communication with Program Coordinator
• Assist the Team Leader in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Ensure the safety, effectiveness, and quality of programs
• Support the planning and facilitation of camps, classes, clinics, and events for the Therapeutic Recreation Division
• Assist with program setup and execution
• Help oversee seasonal staff and volunteers
• Maintain facility and equipment inventories
• Ensure activities are inclusive and safe
• Monitor individuals participating in division programs to ensure County equipment is used appropriately
• Maintain and keep all equipment organized
• Monitor inventory of division supplies and forms and inform Coordinator of needed supplies
• Administer first aid and report injuries/accidents to Program Coordinator
• Maintain rosters, attendance, health forms, injury reports, and disciplinary records
• Provide monthly reports to the program coordinator on program evaluations, staff performance, and program performance
• Communicate professionally with participants, the public, and other individuals to coordinate work activities, exchange information or resolve problems

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of hire
• Completion of in-house training program and a valid certification related to the assigned program
• Previous experience working with youth
• Successfully pass a criminal background check
• Possess and maintain a GA driver’s license
