About This Role

Assist in the education and daily program of a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom, providing supportive services and educational experiences to instill a positive self-image and language development in children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the education and daily program of a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom
• Assist with implementation and coordination of all Head Start or Early Head Start functions
• Identify, report, and provide supportive services in child abuse/neglect cases
• Assist in providing educational experiences that instill a good self-image and develop language arts skills for children
• Ensure all children receive individual attention and include multi-culture, folklore, etc. into the program
• Ensure all classroom, playground, restrooms, and equipment areas are safe
• Assist with child assessments and screenings, field trips, and other school functions
• Assist with home-style meal service for the children
• Report illness or accidents and student absences of three days or more to relevant coordinators
• Attend workshops, conferences, and all in-service trainings, maintaining mandated training hours

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to serve and effectively communicate with children and families with no or limited English proficiency
• Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic
• Computer literate
• Ability to work effectively without extensive supervision
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to stand, sit on the floor, bend, squat, kneel, lift children, and engage with children

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Preferred: 2 years related experience in a preschool classroom setting

Nice to Have

• 2 years related experience in the preschool classroom setting
