Substitute Teacher

About This Role

This role enables students to continue their education smoothly in the absence of their regular teacher by maintaining established routines, teaching lesson plans, and overseeing student behavior.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school secretary upon arrival
• Review all plans and schedules for the teaching day
• Maintain established routines and procedures of the assigned classroom
• Teach lessons outlined in the Substitute Teacher’s Folder
• Consult with the building principal for any procedures not specified in the folder
• Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch, and recess
• Report in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Texas only)
• Bachelor's degree and substitute teaching certification (Arizona and Nevada only)
