This internship, with a target start date in summer 2026, involves assisting a project team within the Grid business unit in the execution of engineering projects. You will contribute to the design of new or modified transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems, utilizing and expanding your academic background.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineering team members in the execution of project work
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs
- Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data
- Be involved in power designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services
Requirements
- Expected graduation date in Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027, or Spring 2028 with a Bachelor of Science engineering degree with a strong preference in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Self-starter, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction
- Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science engineering degree, strongly preferred in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering
- Expected graduation date in Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027, or Spring 2028 with a Bachelor of Science engineering degree
Nice to Have
- Coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience using agentic AI
- Enrollment in a BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Familiarity in designing or developing AI applications and/or agents
- Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
- Prior, related internship or co-op experience
- Strong academic background and coursework in electrical power
