Student Nurse Tech (SNT)

About This Role

This Student Nurse Tech (SNT) position provides hands-on experience by assisting Registered Nurses with direct patient care in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital environment. The role focuses on performing basic nursing procedures and maintaining patient well-being.

Responsibilities

• Perform procedures such as vital signs, height, weight, and demographic data collection
• Assist patients with personal and daily care including bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, and hair care
• Manage intake & output, urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, and specimen collection
• Removes peripheral IV's as directed by RN (excluding those in antecubital fossa or higher)
• Deliver meals and snacks, and feed patients unable to feed themselves
• Turn and position immobile patients safely, maintaining proper body alignment
• Answer patient call lights and perform services enhancing physical well-being
• Transport patients to designated areas and assist with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs
• Assist in physical examinations, exercise regimens, and postmortem care as directed
• Provide skin care, apply cold soaks/compress, reinforce dressings, and apply simple, clean dressings
• Apply Oxygen mask/trach mask or Nasal Cannula as directed by Registered Nurse
• Maintain cleanliness of various instruments and equipment and disinfect between patients
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly, make beds, replace soiled linen, and prepare rooms for occupancy
• Provide age-appropriate care to patients 13 and older
• Maintain unit stock levels, assist in restocking rooms, and demonstrate proper use and maintenance of patient scales, carts, and lifts

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program)
• Proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to maintain effective working relations with others
• BLS
