Strategic Arms Control Advisor

About This Role

The Strategic Arms Control Advisor supports the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Strategic Threats Department (OB-ST) by guiding the execution of arms control activities tied to nuclear arms control treaties. This role will also provide experience-based guidance for follow-on arms control agreements.

Responsibilities

• Support OB-ST planning and execution of current treaties and agreements.
• Attend arms control meetings, site assisted visits, and training engagements.
• Advise OB-ST on operational considerations for future multi-lateral or bi-lateral arms control agreements.

Requirements

• In-depth experience and expertise in implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties
• 5+ years direct participation in New START Treaty inspection and escort missions
• Experience supporting USG interagency and services in arms control policy development

Qualifications

• 5+ years implementing the New START Treaty through direct participation on treaty inspection and escort missions and supporting the interagency and the services in the development of arms control implementation policy and practices. In-depth experience with or expertise in implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties, to include personal experience and expertise gained while participating on inspection and escort missions and/or attending various arms control meetings with relevant agencies within the strategic arms control community in the USG.
