About This Role

Lead state and local income/franchise tax matters for clients, providing detailed advice, planning, and managing technical assignments. This role involves extensive work with pass-through entities and merger and acquisition activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed advice on complex pass-through entity state income/franchise tax planning matters
  • Focus on state income and franchise tax advisory for pass-through entities and M&A activities
  • Deliver timely, high-quality client service
  • Perform or manage technical assignments for state income taxes including pass-through entity planning, M&A strategic planning, due diligence, tax provision reviews, and audit support
  • Research and resolve complex state and local tax issues
  • Prepare technical memoranda, matrices, and client deliverables
  • Draft internal and external SALT Alerts
  • Recognize opportunities and market state and local tax services to clients and prospects
  • Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition
  • Stay updated on current state tax practices and changes in tax law

Requirements

  • CPA, JD or LLM
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 7+ years of current or recent experience in public accounting or corporate tax department
  • Significant experience working with Pass-Through/Flow-Through Entities
  • Significant experience working with merger and acquisition planning on the state income tax level
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong tax research skills
  • Strong project management skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 7+ years of current or recent experience in public accounting or corporate tax department
