The Sr. Operations Manager at Amazon will be responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. This role involves managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and ensuring performance objectives are met to build leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.
Responsibilities
- Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives
- Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of Inbound or Outbound operations
- Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers
- Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments
- Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans
- Ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among the network
- Work closely with support staff to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of full-time Amazon experience
- Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations
- 7+ years of direct management experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement and Lean techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
- 7+ years of direct management experience
Nice to Have
- Experience leading large contingent workforce programs
- Experience working in fast paced environments, and managing workload even during times of stress, or escalated activity
- Experience working cross functionally across several teams
