About This Role

Implement treatment programs for pediatric patients with various communication and swallowing disorders, administering speech therapy services in home and community settings. This role involves direct patient care, caregiver education, and coordination with healthcare partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality care and meet the needs of the patient and family by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results.
  • Develop goals appropriate to the child and create speech therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
  • Assist pediatric patients to develop or regain cognitive, speech, language, feeding/swallowing, and/or social/emotional functioning.
  • Improve patients' level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
  • Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
  • Coordinate with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order.
  • Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • ASHA certification
  • Texas State SLP License
  • Current CPR certification

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
