This role involves implementing and administering speech therapy services for pediatric patients in their homes and communities. This will assist them with cognitive, speech, language, and feeding/swallowing delays. The SLP will also educate and empower caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results for pediatric patients.
- Develop goals appropriate to the child and create and implement speech therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
- Assist pediatric patients to develop or regain cognitive, speech, language, feeding/swallowing and/or social/emotional functioning.
- Improve patients' level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
- Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities.
- Coordinate with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order.
- Assure continuation of the therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
- Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
- Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.
Requirements
- ASHA certification
- Texas State SLP License
- Current CPR certification
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
