Speech Language Pathologist

About This Role

This role involves implementing and administering speech therapy services for pediatric patients in their homes and communities. This will assist them with cognitive, speech, language, and feeding/swallowing delays. The SLP will also educate and empower caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality care by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results for pediatric patients.
• Develop goals appropriate to the child and create and implement speech therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
• Assist pediatric patients to develop or regain cognitive, speech, language, feeding/swallowing and/or social/emotional functioning.
• Improve patients' level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
• Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities.
• Coordinate with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order.
• Assure continuation of the therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
• Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
• Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

• ASHA certification
• Texas State SLP License
• Current CPR certification

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
