The Material Estimator is responsible for accurately compiling the complete material cost for various projects and tasks supporting production and spares proposals. This role involves generating a Consolidated Bill of Materials (CBOM) and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Meticulously generate a Consolidated Bill of Materials (CBOM) aligned with specific schedules and unique proposal demands based on RFPs
- Leverage supplier quotes, historical purchase data, price lists/catalogs, available stock materials, and engineering estimates to determine items for supplier quotations
- Conduct thorough analyses of technical drawings, parts lists, specifications, and related documents to accurately ascertain estimating needs
- Compile, review, and approve all material cost data, providing accurate, detailed, and priced CBOM spreadsheets/reports with lead-times to the Pricing Department
- Effectively communicate with external individuals and internal customers to deliver projects under pressure and meet proposal deadlines and budget constraints
- Actively support GATE reviews and provide robust support during Customer/DCAA audits
- Ensure all estimations and procurement activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies
- Maintain accurate records of estimated and actual material usage for future reference and continuous improvement of estimation processes
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- 4+ years relevant experience (with Bachelor's degree)
- Aerospace/Defense industry experience
- Ability to create Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables, Excel Vlookups, and organize large amounts of data
- Working knowledge of material pricing techniques
- Strong presentation skills and attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills and adept at resolving time-sensitive problems
- Understanding and working knowledge of engineering documentation and product configuration
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
- Solid understanding and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 2 years with a Graduate Degree, or 8 years without a degree in a related field
Nice to Have
- Ability to work and prioritize effectively and complete work timely in a deadline-driven environment
- Understanding of Business Acquisition Process
- Knowledge of FAR 15-2 and Truth and Negotiations Act
- Experience with Costpoint and SAP
