About This Role

This role involves developing special education preschool students' academic success, interpersonal skills, and daily living activities. The Special Education Teacher will implement district-approved curriculum, document student progress, address specific needs, and provide a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt classroom work to support and reinforce classroom objectives
  • Administer first aid and assistance (e.g., tube feeding, toileting, diapering) to medically fragile children
  • Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to reinforce classroom goals at home
  • Assess students' social, academic, and developmental needs for evaluation, placement, and program success
  • Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes and plan curriculum
  • Direct instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student aides for an effective school program
  • Instruct students to improve their academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills
  • Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment
  • Prepare teaching materials and related reports (e.g., grades, attendance) to document student progress
  • Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse) to maintain student safety and adhere to policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related area
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in Special Education
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and stages of child development

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in job related area

Nice to Have

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful
