This internship offers the opportunity to a Show Mechanical Engineering intern to join a team that designs and creates magical moments for guests by working on Audio-Animatronic figures, show action equipment, and special effects for Disney theme park attractions. The intern will support various phases of the engineering process from concept development through final design, production, test, installation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design under the direction of others
- Use Surface Modeling techniques to design organic shells and/or skins for audio-animatronic figures
- Work with production teams to track floor changes
- Gain knowledge in the design of animatronic figures
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes
- Experience with 3D design software (Solidworks, Rhino, Fusion 360, Geomagic DesignX, ZBrush, Maya, NTopology)
- Experience with 3D Printing, 3D Scanning, Model Making or Tooling Design
- Experience with engineering analysis software (Ansys)
- Experience with specification and design of composite materials, silicones or urethanes
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Engineering Technology, or related field

- Demonstrated/proven strong leadership, technical and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with demonstrated initiative - able to handle multiple tasks and priorities
- Digital sculpting experience
