Shipping / Receiving Clerk I

About This Role

This role involves accurately shipping and receiving products, packaging materials according to specifications, and maintaining a clean warehouse environment for a global water technology manufacturing company.

Responsibilities

• Ship products in accordance with shipping orders, completing bills of lading and other duties
• Wrap or arrange materials in shipping containers and observe that products are properly packed
• Interpret packing specifications and calculate container sizes from drawings or measurements
• Select correct barrier materials and hardware for packaging
• Fabricate wooden crates and apply specified packaging materials
• Pack crates with steel strapping
• Stencil crates with required addresses as per specifications
• Check contents of packages for conformity with shipping orders, address, and accurately weigh packages
• Keep accurate records of shipments and receive proper receipts from carriers
• Identify and receive all incoming materials and verify accuracy of incoming shipments
• Note any discrepancies on packing slips and forward to appropriate person
• Record count into the computer system using bar coding guns
• Print bar code labels as required and affix them to received materials
• Operate all types of material handling equipment, such as forklift trucks, hoists, or pump trucks
• Keep working areas, including the Received Goods area, clean and tidy

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a warehouse
• 1-3 years experience
• Forklift experience
• Some background in shipping experience
• Reliable transportation
• Steel/composite toe boots

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1-3 years experience in shipping, receiving, and operating forklifts
