Senior Software Engineer

About This Role

This Senior Software Engineer will design and build high-performance backend systems for real-time bidding, ad serving, and optimization for a global tech leader. The role involves taking ownership of services end-to-end and shaping the architectural direction of an industry-leading ads platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize large-scale backend systems for ad serving, optimization, and reporting
• Collaborate with product, data science, and client delivery teams to bring impactful features to life
• Own projects from architecture through deployment, monitoring, and iteration
• Improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience across mission-critical services
• Innovate in areas such as auction dynamics, optimization algorithms, and ad performance
• Use data and metrics to guide decisions and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency
• Influence architecture, technical strategy, and engineering best practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building large-scale or high availability systems
• Experience building backend services, APIs, and data pipelines with performance and reliability in mind
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating systems in cloud environments like AWS or Azure
• Experience working within modern CI/CD pipelines and large shared codebases
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, and performance optimization
• Strong programming fundamentals and expertise in at least one strongly typed or object-oriented language (Go, Python, Rust, or C preferred)
• Proficiency with databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Redis, or Aerospike
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to learn new technologies
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to influence across teams
• A track record of delivering engineering work that creates real business impact
• Proven ability to mentor others and elevate overall technical quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience building large-scale or high availability systems

Nice to Have

• Experience with real-time bidding systems, ad serving platforms, or performance marketing tech
• Experience improving developer productivity or scaling core platform systems
• Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Pulsar
• Knowledge of experimentation frameworks or machine learning driven optimization
