About This Role

Lead mechanical engineering design for power generation projects, including cutting-edge nuclear technologies like stellarator fusion power plants. This role involves coordinating design teams, performing technical assessments, and supporting projects from feasibility through commissioning, while offering remote work flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the mechanical engineering design work on assigned projects
  • Serve as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsibility for deliverable development
  • Coordination with the mechanical piping design team to direct completion of engineering drawings
  • Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID’s, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.
  • Provides technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence and other studies presenting complex technical solutions to clients
  • Generate applicable mechanical engineering deliverables to support all phases of scope development – Feasibility through Detail Design
  • Develop construction and equipment specifications and material requisitions
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Participate in project and client meetings
  • Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6 years of related experience in Mechanical Engineering for Power Generation Facilities
  • High level of understanding and experience in mechanical engineering design and technology principles for process/mechanical and generation projects

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in Mechanical Engineering for Power Generation Facilities

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 12+ years of experience with Power Generation Facilities
  • 5+ years of experience as project technical mechanical lead/mechanical engineer of record
  • Experience in engineer and design of Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation Stations
  • Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP, ANSI, ASTMs, etc.)
  • Expert experience with specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. rotating and static equipment) and piping material specifications
  • Familiarity with diverse metallurgy
  • Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
  • Experience with engineering software packages: Thermoflow, Hysys, Caesar II, Pipe-Flo, AspenTech, Applied Flow Technology
  • Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360)
  • Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects
  • Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams
