Senior Mechanical Engineer

About This Role

Lead and mentor a team of mechanical/HVAC engineers and designers for a top-tier MEP Design Build Contractor, overseeing engineering design, project coordination, and technical leadership for diverse commercial and industrial HVAC projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of mechanical/HVAC engineers and designers
• Assign workloads, review engineering deliverables, and ensure team alignment with project goals
• Provide technical guidance, professional development, and performance feedback
• Oversee and contribute to HVAC system design including calculations, equipment selection, layout development, and specification writing
• Perform and review load calculations, ductwork and hydronic design, and building ventilation strategies
• Ensure compliance with building codes, energy standards, and client requirements
• Coordinate directly with project managers, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
• Plan project design phases, manage schedules, and support budget adherence
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering discussions, and client presentations
• Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and responsive support

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 7–15+ years of mechanical/HVAC engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software (e.g., Trace, HAP)
• Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards, IECC, IMC, and relevant building codes
• Experience managing or mentoring engineering teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 7–15+ years of mechanical/HVAC engineering experience
