As a Lead Engineer focusing on Data Lifecycle Management, you will design, build, and operate data platform capabilities that govern how data is created, classified, used/shared, retained, archived, and deleted. You will be instrumental in delivering lifecycle controls embedded directly into modern data stacks, turning governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements into scalable engineering patterns and automation. This role is crucial for improving data trust, reducing operational risk, and enabling compliant reuse of data products.
Responsibilities
- Embrace and drive a culture of accountability for customer and business outcomes, developing engineering solutions that solve complex problems with valuable outcomes.
- Serve as the technical advocate for products, ensuring code integrity, feasibility, and alignment with business and customer goals, and lead requirement analysis.
- Maintain accountability for the integrity of code design, implementation, quality, data, and ongoing maintenance and operations.
- Develop lean engineering solutions through rapid, inexpensive experimentation to solve customer needs.
- Adopt a mindset that favors action and evidence over extensive planning and utilize a leaning-forward approach to navigate complexity and uncertainty.
- Work collaboratively with empowered, cross-functional teams including product management, experience, and delivery.
- Possess deep expertise in modern software engineering practices and principles, including Agile methodologies and DevSecOps.
- Quickly acquire domain-specific knowledge relevant to the business or product and translate business/user needs into technical specifications and code.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts clearly and compellingly.
- Engage and collaborate with product engineering teams at all organizational levels, including customers as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years proven experience with Python, SQL/NoSQL
- 8+ years of experience with cloud-native engineering and understanding of Azure Data Pipelines/the Azure Portal Environment
- 8+ years delivering governed data platforms
- 2+ years of experience with AI/ML and GenAI
- Strong understanding of methodologies & tools like XP, Lean, SAFe, DevSecOps, SRE, ADO, GitHub, SonarQube
- Deep experience with at least one modern data platform and its governance controls (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse)
- Experience with implementing data governance and lifecycle management controls across Microsoft 365 (M365) applications
- Experience with governance tools like Microsoft Purview
Qualifications
- bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline
- 8+ years proven experience with Python, SQL/NoSQL, cloud-native engineering and understanding of Azure Data Pipelines/the Azure Portal Environment, and delivering governed data platforms.
