About This Role

Support and lead contract management responsibilities for BAE Systems Combat Mission Systems in Phoenix, AZ, maintaining compliance with company policies and government regulations. This position involves leading complex contracting assignments and advising senior management on contractual and business matters.

Responsibilities

  • Support Contracts personnel within a Business Area(s), potentially leading complex contracting assignments or specializing in one or more areas of contracting
  • Develop and maintain professional and dependable relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Act as a lead in bid/proposal efforts, and the negotiation and management of contracts to assure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of the U.S. Government Acquisition and Procurement environment, BAE Systems and functional Contracts Department policies and procedures, commercial and international contracting methods, export, FAR/DFARS and other government regulations
  • Provide analysis of solicitations, assuring that bid/proposals are prepared and presented to maximize opportunities while minimizing liabilities and risk
  • Establish and manage negotiation strategies and financial requirements, perform business risk assessment and recommend mitigation plans
  • Conduct negotiation of contracts requiring a high degree of negotiation expertise, execute proposals and contracts to the threshold delegated
  • Prepare contract summaries and provide management with complete, current and accurate data by reporting progress on contract activity, together with recommendations for management action/decision
  • Foster and maintain sound and reliable relationships with counterparts in customer organizations
  • Interface regularly providing advice and counsel on contractual and business matters to senior management at the assigned Business Area

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years relevant experience OR equivalent education/experience
  • Highly developed critical thinking and communication skills with ability to influence and shape favorable business outcomes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and team-building skills in a complex cross-functional business environment
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and policies/procedures
  • Ability to effect and manage change (both organizational and contractual)
  • Fixed Price Contract experience
  • Functional knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations
  • Experience with complex contracts and proposal preparation and execution
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, solicitations/RFPs, or governmental regulations
  • Strong business acumen and experienced in risk management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience
  • 4+ years relevant contract administration experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with large US Government, domestic and international customers
  • Master's Degree/MBA/JD
