About This Role

Administer and implement external outreach efforts for Energy Assistance programs, aimed at educating and supporting financially at-risk, low-income, and vulnerable customers with their energy expenses. Foster partnerships with service providers and ensure timely support for eligible individuals and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and implement external outreach efforts for Energy Assistance programs
  • Educate and assist financially at-risk, low income and other vulnerable customers with management of their energy expenses
  • Promote company's bill payment assistance programs (e.g., PIPP, EnergyShare)
  • Provide information on other non-profit energy assistance programs and energy conservation programs
  • Coordinate and facilitate agency summits, workshops, and training sessions
  • Educate partnering agencies, stakeholders, and team members on billing, payment, and credit policies
  • Foster partnerships with service providers and ensuring timely support for eligible individuals, households and agencies
  • Represent the company in media interviews and community events as a spokesperson
  • Analyze past attendance and demographic data to identify outreach areas
  • Develop reports for management on the effectiveness of outreach efforts
  • Plan event schedules and operate within budget guidelines

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of experience working on an energy assistance team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in program administration
  • Excellent communications skills (public speaking and writing)
  • Hands-on experience working with partnering agencies that administer bill payment programs
  • Experience in training facilitation, policy interpretation, and contract administration
  • Well-versed in Virginia and North Carolina energy assistance programs (LIHEAP, PIPP, EnergyShare)
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with external agency portal and bill assistance pledge/payment process
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and self-management skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in facilitating large training sessions and public speaking
  • Comfort and professionalism in representing the company in media interviews and public forums
  • Willingness to work unusual hours (evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • Knowledge of basic personal computers and their applications
  • Demonstrated teaming skills and extensive knowledge of company policy and procedures (credit policy, payment plans, programs, conservation programs)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work outdoors in potential weather extremes
  • Ability to lift boxes that are 15-20+ lbs.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED
  • 2-3+ years of experience working on an energy assistance team, with demonstrated knowledge and skills in program administration.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as an official spokesperson for a company, agency or organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent
