About This Role

This Senior Consultant role within the Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team focuses on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Data Analytics. The position involves gathering, normalizing, validating, and analyzing transactional data to develop hypotheses and provide crucial insights for clients throughout the M&A lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, normalize, validate, and analyze transactional data (e.g., sales and inventory) to develop and test deal hypotheses
  • Work as part of cross-functional teams providing financial, accounting, operational, and tax due diligence
  • Utilize visual analytics skills to tell a compelling story of findings
  • Use business intelligence tools and data analytic skillset to provide meaningful insights to clients
  • Interact directly with C-suite and private equity executives, advising on critical aspects of M&A transactions
  • Coordinate with FP&A and Strategic Finance personnel to identify, collect, and validate data from client databases
  • Analyze financial and key performance indicator deal data for trends and outliers
  • Identify opportunities to design and develop visualizations and dashboards for effective analysis of large transactional datasets
  • Directly advise clients
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, manage projects, and lead engagements

Requirements

  • 2-4 years experience analyzing large datasets
  • Demonstrated understanding of data manipulation tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced business analytics and data mining solutions
  • Demonstrated understanding of multiple business cycles (e.g., Order-to-cash revenue cycle, procurement, Supply Chain, Inventory)
  • Experience designing and storytelling via data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel Charts)
  • Experience analyzing or managing accounting, financial, or transactional data
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or similar
  • 2-4 years of experience analyzing large datasets, including demonstrated understanding of data manipulation tools

Nice to Have

  • Strong working knowledge of data structures and database design
  • Knowledge of GAAP, particularly revenue recognition and ASC 606
  • Experience performing ETL/data manipulation using Alteryx or similar tools
  • Experience designing data visualizations with Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of how to use programming languages for data analyses: SQL, Python, R or other languages
  • Statistical methods in support of data analysis
  • Master of Business Administration or similar degree
