This Senior Software Engineer will drive the evolution of Foodsmart's platform by designing, building, and maintaining backend services and data infrastructure. The role focuses on developing scalable solutions for both member-facing experiences and internal clinical workflows, ensuring seamless integration, reliability, and security of product functionalities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and maintain backend systems supporting Foodsmart’s platform functionalities
- Design and implement APIs that serve both frontend applications and internal tools
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration and end-to-end product quality
- Establish and enforce best practices for coding, testing, and deployment to enhance system stability and performance
- Work with product teams to translate user requirements into scalable backend solutions
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve production bugs promptly
- Optimize system performance and scalability through proactive monitoring and updates
- Stay informed about emerging backend technologies and recommend their application to improve platform capabilities
- Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in backend development using programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL systems (DynamoDB)
- Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS (Lambda, SQS, RDS, EC2)
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and server architecture
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in backend development

- Experience with low-code development platforms like Retool
