Ensure the safety and security of employees, clients, and visitors by patrolling assigned areas, monitoring access, and responding to irregularities. Support program staff communication and maintain a trauma-informed care environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required
- Patrol assigned areas to ensure protection of clients, visitors, property and equipment
- Control and monitor access ingress and egress out of assigned site and monitor burglar and fire alarm systems
- Manage program parking location, alerting unauthorized use and working with towing contract agencies
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; use agency keys to open and close buildings
- Monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities
- Inform and warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles
- Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations
- Contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required
- Remain alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approach suspicious persons and/or notify police as appropriate
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard
- NY State Security Guard Registration
Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred. Equivalent Combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard
Nice to Have
- Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License
