Security Guard

About This Role

Ensure the safety and security of employees, clients, and visitors by patrolling assigned areas, monitoring access, and responding to irregularities. Support program staff communication and maintain a trauma-informed care environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required
• Patrol assigned areas to ensure protection of clients, visitors, property and equipment
• Control and monitor access ingress and egress out of assigned site and monitor burglar and fire alarm systems
• Manage program parking location, alerting unauthorized use and working with towing contract agencies
• Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; use agency keys to open and close buildings
• Monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities
• Inform and warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles
• Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations
• Contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required
• Remain alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approach suspicious persons and/or notify police as appropriate

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard
• NY State Security Guard Registration

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred. Equivalent Combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard

Nice to Have

• Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License
