The City of Union City's Community and Recreation Services is seeking temporary staff for various roles including Bike Workshop Technician, Building Attendant, Camp Leader, and Safe Parking Attendant. These positions support community facilities and programs, ensuring safe and engaging experiences for residents.
Responsibilities
- Fix, maintain, and sell bikes and assist in the operation of the bike workshop (Bike Workshop Technician)
- Oversee community recreational facilities before, during, and after activities, engaging with the public and providing customer service (Building Attendant)
- Plan and implement daily sports, games, arts and crafts, drama, songs, science, and nature activities for children ages 3-12 (Day Camp and Sports Camp Leader)
- Greet and assist members and visitors of the Mark Green Sports Center, set-up and clean classes, and issue and collect equipment (Gym Attendant or Scorekeeper)
- Set up rooms with tables and chairs, communicate with rental permittees, and ensure safety during events (Facility Rental Reception Leader)
- Greet and assist members and visitors of the Mark Green Sports Center, guide fitness tours, and provide basic operational instruction of fitness equipment (Fitness Attendant)
- Plan and implement daily sports, games, arts-and-crafts, drama, songs, science, and nature activities for children ages 3-12 (Summer Camp & Sports Camp Aide)
- Create, engage, and provide an inclusive environment for teens ages 12-16 at Teen Camp and Teen Center Programs (Teen Leader)
- Facilitate and provide opportunities for participants ages 5-16 with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to engage in physical and social activities (Therapeutic Recreation Leader)
- Maintain and enforce proper city procedures and policies for the CAREavan Safe Overnight Parking program, perform site inspections, supervise participants, and manage locations (Safe Parking Attendant)
Requirements
- Must be at least 17.5 years old (for Recreation Leader roles)
- Must be at least 15 years old (for Recreation Aide roles)
- Work Permit if applicable (for Recreation Aide roles)
- Must be at least 18 years of age (for Safe Parking Attendant)
- Availability to work during the day, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
Nice to Have
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Satisfactory driving record and own transportation (for Safe Parking Attendant)
