About This Role

This School Psychologist Intern position is responsible for developing strategies and interventions to assist students, performing psycho-educational assessments, and interpreting results to apply state and federal codes within Washington County Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform psycho-educational assessments on referred students, including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, reviewing existing information, and writing reports documenting findings.
  • Evaluate eligibility for special education services within a team format.
  • Review records and/or conduct evaluations to determine students' eligibility for alternative assessment.
  • Participate on the District Level RTI2 A & B teams.
  • Provide collaborative consultation, including assisting general education staff with suggestions and implementation of RTI2 A & B and pre-referral intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, principals, and central office personnel on refining the RTI2 A & B process.
  • Conduct re-evaluations of special education students to determine present levels of performance, continued eligibility, extent of progress, and needed services and supports.
  • Review educational records of students transferring from other school systems to assist in determining eligibility and services.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel, and outside professionals as appropriate regarding cognitive, affective, social, academic, and behavioral performance.
  • Serve as consultant on mental health topics such as suicide risk, behavioral difficulties, diagnostic considerations, psychiatric medications, etc.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • Valid license with appropriate endorsement acceptable to the state of Tennessee Department of Education

  • Master's degree required
