Sales Associate Cashier

About This Role

Provide friendly, accurate, and efficient service to Food Lion customers by managing transactions, bagging groceries, and maintaining a tidy front-end area.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience
• Greet each customer and use their name when possible
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt, grouping cold items together for ease of bagging
• Check for items on the bottom of every cart and under all baby seats before completing an order
• Follow correct bagging procedures for proper use of bags by type
• Scan customers' orders and handle payment transactions according to standard practice
• Follow procedures in handling cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps, and WIC vouchers
• Follow procedures for refunds and error correction, maintaining accurate cash control
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take their order to their car
• Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and cart corrals utilizing the tether strap
• Ensure work station and front end area of the store has a neat and clean presentation
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices

Requirements

• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center
• Meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
