The Safety Manager provides support to the Safety Director, overseeing the implementation of safety reviews on job sites and ensuring a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This role involves providing oversight for safety systems and delivering safety training to office and field personnel for Austin Bridge & Road projects in the Dallas, Texas area.
Responsibilities
- Examine project settings for work performed and client operations/processes to identify exposures and hazards.
- Manage preconstruction and bid selection safety processes, including developing and reviewing project JHAs and safety execution plans.
- Devise methods and make recommendations for controlling hazard exposures and interpret and disseminate hazard exposure information.
- Develop, prepare, and conduct safety training for employees on proper working methods, controls, and personal protective equipment.
- Evaluate, create, and present findings of non-compliance with the current HCSS program and create and conduct specialized safety training programs.
- Ensure all training records are documented and filed, and monitor the effectiveness of training.
- Monitor and evaluate work habits and conditions on all jobs routinely.
- Interact with field personnel, supervision, and management to disseminate safety information.
- Conduct and/or attend incident investigations and generate and distribute reports.
- Coordinate and lead project site safety meetings and conduct daily site assessments of work areas.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in safety management within construction or related industries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor a team of 1-2 safety professionals
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective public speaking skills
- Legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Health or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety management within construction or related industries.
Nice to Have
- CMAR and preconstruction experience
- Experience with asphalt laydown and asphalt plant operations
- Bilingual skills
