Insulator

About This Role

The Insulator applies, removes, and repairs insulating materials on various surfaces and structures to control noise and maintain temperatures. This role involves reading blueprints, selecting appropriate materials, and working at heights.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and select required insulation material.
• Work at heights without fear.
• Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive application to insulation material.
• Determine and select required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll form) based on its ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Measure and cut insulation material to specified size and shape for covering flat or round surfaces using handsaw, knife, or scissors.
• Fit, wrap, or attach required insulation material around or to a structure, following blueprint specifications.
• Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure.
• Use staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun as appropriate for the type of insulation and structure covered.

Requirements

• Ability to apply, remove, and repair insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures.
• Experience with air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and selecting required insulation material.
• Ability to work at heights with no fear.
• Experience with various insulation materials like fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane.
• Proficiency in measuring and cutting insulation material to specified sizes and shapes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Journeyman level experience.
