Safety Coordinator

About This Role

Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies on construction projects. This role involves leading safety initiatives, identifying and controlling hazardous conditions, and collaborating with project teams and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall McGough Environmental, Health & Safety, and risk control policy and procedure compliance on jobsites
• Lead, direct and enforce safety on multiple construction projects
• Identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions using job specific safety standards, best management practices, training and disciplinary techniques
• Partner with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman and trade partners
• Mentor and coach onsite crew
• Build relationships to ensure safety compliance with owners, design partners, subcontractors and suppliers
• Perform all functions in partnership with McGough's culture, corporate vision, ethics and code of conduct
• Stop any unsafe practices, train on correct behavior, and recommend suitable disciplinary action
• Conduct weekly jobsite walk throughs/audits with Superintendent/Foremen to identify hazards and train safe behavior
• Thoroughly investigate all incidents and accidents

Requirements

• Minimum 2 Year Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Engineering or related degree
• Minimum 2 years of building construction safety experience or equivalent
• OSHA 30 training
• First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED training
• Achievement of CHST is required within 2 years of appointment
• Demonstrated ability to identify known potential exposures and lead implementation of corrective actions
• Ability to pass customer required background and security screenings
• Hold a valid driver’s license with a clear record

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 Year Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Engineering or related degree
• Minimum 2 years of building construction safety experience or equivalent education and experience

Nice to Have

• 4-7+ years of field-related experience
• Bilingual with the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English
