The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Medical Diagnostic Unit provides high-quality, patient and family-centered care, adhering to St. Charles Health System's mission and professional nursing standards. This role involves assessing patient conditions, implementing nursing actions, and collaborating with other disciplines to meet patient needs. The RN also oversees the work of other caregivers, providing specific care to assigned patients throughout their shift.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and Oregon nursing laws.
- Assesses patient condition and needs, sets outcomes, and implements appropriate nursing actions in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately according to St. Charles Health System policies.
- Documents all patient care proficiently, complying with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
- Communicates effectively, both written and orally, maintaining professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests.
- Identifies work-related problems and implements solutions within the scope of practice.
- Provides a therapeutic presence and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conducts all activities with professionalism and confidentiality, complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Current Oregon RN license
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification
- ACLS
- 1-2 years recent ICU, IMCU, or ER experience.
Qualifications
- As required by RN licensure, BSN preferred
- 1-2 years recent ICU, IMCU, or ER experience; 6 months of recent endoscopy experience preferred
Nice to Have
- BSN
- Department specific acute care certification (e.g., CPAN, CGRN, CAPA, CCRN)
- 6 months of recent endoscopy experience, including pre-op/Phase I/Phase II recovery.
